Holiday travelers this week will have noticed that gas prices have reached their lowest prices in over two years. According to AAA of Michigan, the current statewide average gas price is $2.11 a gallon, about fifty cents less than this same time last year. Across the local area, pumps in Sanilac and Lapeer County are asking about $2.09 a gallon, while gas is $2.07 on average in Macomb County, and here in St. Clair County, local area pumps are asking $2.10 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded. Analysts say the lower prices are due to a barrel of crude oil falling to 43-dollars as well as macroeconomic worries and increased inventory.
