A revised fireworks ordinance for the city of Port Huron could be approved by city council this evening. The revised ordinance doubles the fine from $500 to $1,000 for violators and also sets an 11:45pm cutoff time for fireworks celebrations. The amount of holidays have been rolled back from all national holidays to just a handful of holidays, however it does expand the number of days around Independence day in which fireworks can be discharged. Also tonight, city council is expected to officially remove the traffic light at the intersection of Michigan Street and Grand River avenues, as well as make a few traffic control changes to Avondale Street and Grant Place on the city’s south end. City council will meet at 7pm tonight at the Port Huron Municipal Office Center.
