Be on alert for some changes in traffic patterns today as kids start the first day of classes in many area districts. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon tells WPHM motorists need to slow down in school zones and be prepared to stop at bus stops to help make sure this  school year is a safe one. The sheriff says drivers must stop if they see a school bus with it’s red lights activated. In addition to more buses on the roads, Donnellon also says expect more teen drivers driving to and from area high schools. He says motorists need to “drive defensively” and be patient with young drivers. The Sheriff also reminds drivers that speed restrictions in school zones will be going back into effect after several months of summer vacation. “There’s going to be a lot more people out, a lot more traffic, and be prepared to slow those cars down,” said Donnellon.
