City to start planning for next year’s Blue Water Fest

A recap of this past year’s Blue Water Fest… that’s what members of the Port Huron Downtown Development Authority discussed during a meeting yesterday morning. Director Natalie Watson tells WPHM this year’s event, which takes place leading up to the Port Huron to Mackinac Race, was a success – but some more fine tuning is needed. Watson says she’s still working to find the best combination of musical acts, with her saying some of the rock music was too heavy and other artists were too obscure. “People want to hear things that are familiar,” said Watson.  “Moving forward we are going to make some very big changes as far as footprint, location, that can always be improved.” Watson says that includes the carnival, which could be moved to another new location next year. Previously, the carnival has been held in the East Quay Street lot, the South McMorran Lot, Kiefer Park, and most recently, the North McMorran Lot. She adds attendance was down this year, perhaps due to the extremely warm weather and other area events happening simultaneously.
