Selfridge General hopes to replace Mitchell in Congress

Another republican is seeking to replace 10th  District Congressman Paul Mitchell. Retired US Air Force General Doug “Odie” Slocum announced yesterday that he will be running for congress. Slocum is the former commander of Selfridge Air National Guard Base and his name has been thrown around in recent weeks as a potential candidate.Slocum retired from Selfridge earlier this year and is currently employed as an advisor to Simon Group Holdings, which owns several companies in the transportation, energy, and defense industries. Slocum joins Representative Shane Hernandez of Port Huron who announced his bid earlier this month. Current congressman Paul Mitchell has announced he will not seek another term in congress in 2020 after only four years in office. The 10th district includes northern Macomb Counties and all of St. Clair, Lapeer, Sanilac, Tuscola, and Huron counties.
