Sandbags for residents along the Black River and canals in the City of Port Huron are being made available. The Port Huron Department of Public Works and the Port Huron Fire Department will be filling sandbags and stationing them in neighborhoods along the river. The free sandbags are being offered by the city as a way to help protect homes and personal property from flooding. The Black River has crested over the seawall in certain areas of the city following this past weekend’s rain and ice storms.
