A downtown Port Huron business is hoping to bring a little color to the 900 block of Military Street. Michigan Mutual Mortgage is sponsoring an art contest for a new mural that will be placed on the south side of their Port Huron headquarters. Jody Parmann, who sits on the Port Huron Downtown Development Authority and co-owns the Raven Cafe, is organizing the contest. She tells WPHM submissions will be accepted between now and the end of the month. They can be made by posting artwork to the Blue Water Creatives group on Facebook, or by emailing her directly, Jody@ravencafeph.com. Members of the Downtown Development Authority Board will help narrow down the selections, with Mark and Hal Walker of Michigan Mutual having the final say on the winning artwork. The selected design will not only be placed on the building, but the winning artist will also receive a $500 dollar cash prize. The deadline to enter is midnight, February 28th.
