Deadline approaching for businesses seeking grants

The deadline for small businesses to take advantage of grants to help offset the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has been pushed up. According to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, applications will accepted until Sunday, March 29th. In order to qualify for the grants, a company must haven been impacted by the governor’s executive order closing non-essential businesses. The business also must have 50 or fewer employees and must demonstrate an income loss as a result of the executive order. About $850,000 in grants have been allocated to a seven county region in the Thumb and Mid-Michigan. St. Clair County’s portion of the grant is approximately $142,000.
