Local COVID-19 count increases but so does the number of recoveries

The St. Clair County Health Department says there are now over 50 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the county. The health agency also says that the number of recoveries continues to increase. As of Thursday afternoon, there are 53 confirmed COVID-19 cases in St. Clair County, 9 of which have recovered from the disease. Sanilac County currently has 8 cases, and Lapeer County’s case load has jumped up to 21. One of those additional cases includes a Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputy who tested positive for the virus. The deputy is said to be doing well and had happened to be off on sick leave when he contracted the virus. Statewide, nearly 11,000 people have tested positive for the virus. There have been approximately 417 deaths as a result of COVID-19.
