Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says the state is seeking election workers to help support democracy in local communities during the Coronavirus pandemic. This comes after Governor Whitmer announced last week that May 5th local elections will still held, with most voting occurring through the mail. Absentee ballot applications will be mailed to all registered voters, with additional hands needed to count those ballots at local clerk’s offices. All registered voters are eligible to serve as election workers statewide and will be paid for their time. Locally, only one issue is on the May 5th ballot, that being a Blue Water Area Transit millage renewal in the City of Port Huron and Fort Gratiot Township.
