There will still be elections held in certain area communities Tuesday May 5th. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson tells WPHM voting will occur through the mail. “Registered voters in a community can expect – if they haven’t already – to be receiving this absentee ballot application that they can quickly return to request their ballot and have their voice herd without having to show up in person,” said Benson.

One polling place in each community, most likely the municipal clerk’s office, will remain open the day of the election. Benson says the in person polling place should only be used to return a completed ballot or to register to vote the day of the election.

Locally, City of Port Huron and Fort Gratiot Township residents will be asked whether or not to renew a Blue Water Transit millage. There are also millage renewals on the ballot for Sanilac County residents in the Sandusky and Carsonville Port Sanilac Districts.
