State announces local grant recipients

Over two-dozen St. Clair County Businesses have received grants from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to help offset the negative effects of the COVID-19. In order to qualify for the grants, a company must haven been impacted by the governor’s executive order closing non-essential businesses. The business also must have 50 or fewer employees and must demonstrate an income loss as a result of the executive order. According to the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County,  $140,787 was awarded by the state to 30 local businesses. They range from bars and restaurants to golf courses and hotels  in various corners of the county. The average grant totaled about $5,000 dollars each.
