Rural areas of northern Michigan will be the first to reopen for business under a new timeline unveiled by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer Monday. Retail stores, restaurants, and bars will be allowed to reopen in the northern lower and  upper peninsula of Michigan starting Friday.  Businesses will need to follow strict social distancing guidelines.  “This is a big step, but we must all remember to continue doing our part to protect ourselves and our families from the spread of COVID-19,” said Governor Whitmer. “It’s crucial that all businesses do everything in their power to protect their workers, customers, and their families.” Whitmer, during Monday’s press conference, stated that additional reopening decisions could be made in the coming days and weeks.
